Reflective post-North and South
Recently,we had came back from our school trip. The school trip was great but what comes afterwards...didn't seem to be that great! In fact, the week was miserable!!! We have all sorts of home works, essays and projects waiting for us and the mid-term is very soon. I usually spent my time home doodling or simply doing nothing, but now I have to manage my time every day to finish my assignments on time.we were forced to read the abbreviated version of "North and South", to be honest, I seriously don't think that this is an interesting book to read. I tried to force myself to finish the book but always ends up reading one page or two then falling asleep or getting distract by different things due to the boredom of the book. I mean, the themes that were expressed in the book such as the expectations of parents, love and the difference between the Northern and Southern part of England that time may be interesting to discuss, but the word choice sorta ruined the beauty of the words and the feeling that were been expressed. Throughout the whole book, the scene that impressed me the most is the ending of the story where Mr. Thornton told Margeret that he had visited the place she had grown up even if he knew the fact that he is not going to win her heart. This is the most touching and romantic part in the whole book!! Mr. Thornton ends up being such a nice and sweet guy, so of course like all the other love stories, the two lived happily ever after. The last part make up for all the other boring parts and make the book quite worth to read. :)
